Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use BabyData, including people who rely on assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition or keyboard-only navigation. Our tools work without an account, an email address or a sign-up, and we build every page with clear structure, readable text, sufficient colour contrast and keyboard-friendly controls.

The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as a working target. Accessibility is never finished, so we treat it as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-off certificate, and we check new pages and tools against it before and after we publish them.
What we do
- Structure pages with real headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate them.
- Keep body text at a readable size that reflows when you zoom or use a small screen.
- Check colour contrast on rendered pages so text stays legible, and re-check it on every release.
- Make our calculators and tools operable by keyboard and label their fields and controls.
- Write in plain language, because many people reach us while pregnant, tired or pressed for time.
- Avoid content that flashes or moves in a way that could cause discomfort.
Known limitations
Some data pages contain large tables and charts. We provide the underlying figures as text and cite the named source alongside every visual, so the information does not depend on being able to see the chart. Where we link out to official sources such as the ONS, NHS or gov.uk, those pages are outside our control and set their own accessibility standards. If any part of the site is not working for you, we would rather hear about it than have you struggle.
